FAQ
What is an anti redness / rosacea laser treatment?
This non-invasive, no downtime procedure uses laser lights to reduce redness and discoloration, improve your skin tone, and reduce the burden of sun damage and aging concerns within skin. This treatment is non-invasive and is a generally painless way to remove imperfections from your skin. It is a “workhorse” procedure in our clinic – thousands have been treated over the years and the great majority of our patients are pleased with the outcomes.
Where on the body can I get treatment?
Anti Redness Laser Treatment (an intense pulsed light laser system) is ideal for the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands.
Who is a good candidate?
Anyone who is troubled by broken capillaries, rosacea, brown spots / irregular pigmentation is a good candidate for laser treatments. With our new medical grade laser technologies any suntanned skin or darker skin is now a candidate for the treatment.
How long does treatment take?
Between one and three sessions of the Anti Redness Laser Treatment, you can begin to see long-lasting results. After the initial reddening of your skin, your targeted areas will fade and you can begin to notice skin tone even out for dramatically noticeable results. Be aware that the issues that are being treated – rosacea, broken capillaries, irregular pigmentation etc. all come from years of low grade ultraviolet light. If you are good about using zinc sunscreen, the benefits can last for years – and can even be permanent. You’ll see dramatic results after ONE treatment.
What should I expect after treatment?
Right after your treatment, the treated area of skin may appear a bit red. The added colour may last a day or so, but since the skin is not “cut” by the laser, there is no bleeding, oozing and thus there is no downtime… Within a week, results will be obvious. Reddened areas will fade, and brown spots will flake off, leaving your skin toned and beautiful.

Is rosacea treated in other ways?
Rosacea is a skin condition that affects the appearance of your face that usually develops slowly and can continue to get worse over time. It first appears as redness in the form of flushing or blushing, appearing on the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead.
As rosacea first develops, the symptoms tend to come and go. Rosacea often begins as a tendency to flush or blush easily. At the onset, symptoms are usually confined to the center of the face, but over time, rosacea can involve the cheeks, forehead, chin, and nose.
Dr. Alanen may choose to treat your Rosacea condition with prescription medication, topical medicine, an emollient to help repair the skin, lasers or light-based laser treatments.

Some people have rosacea flare-ups for life. Treatment can prevent rosacea from getting worse. Treatment also can reduce the acne-like breakouts, redness, and the number of flareups. To get the best results, and maintain your treatment use skincare products with medical grade ingredients and use mineral sunscreen.
